Need Traditional Crafts as Souvenirs?
The Kumamoto Prefectural Traditional Crafts Center meets your needs!
くまモン以外の熊本土産?
もちろんあります! 県伝統工芸館へ Let’s go!Of course Kumamon is cute, but if you want more traditional and/or local items as souvenirs, The Prefectural Traditional Crafts Center near Kumamoto Castle is one of the best places to go!
肥後てまり、来民うちわ、天草陶磁器、山鹿灯籠などの和紙工芸品、など熊本の手仕事作品を集めた、充実したショップ(免税店登録)がある県伝統工芸館。
来春までに多言語案内も計画されています!Beautifully sewn handballs, traditional “uchiwa” fans with modern designs, ceramic items from potteries throughout the prefecture, unique “see-not, hear-not, speak-not” monkeys, and paper crafts are among popular souvenirs.
Hand-made iron and steel knives are very popular for their quality, too! (If you put them in your check-in suitcase, not in carry-on bags, you won’t have security problems at airports.)
Its museum shop is tax-free, and the museum is now working on multi-language signs for its exhibits, which will be ready by next spring!
